building information modeling

Building Information Modeling (BIM) fully integrates building design, construction, and management processes through the creation of a virtual three-dimensional building model. This represents all architectural and engineering elements as well as information about these elements' properties and behavior. This integrated model enables the continuous, immediate, and fully coordinated availability of project design, schedule, budget, and performance information. Beginning in 2004, RND was one of the pioneering firms to implement BIM on all projects.

Understanding drawings and design jargon can sometimes be difficult for laymen unfamiliar with the construction industry. We have found that when all parties of the project team can fully visualize the growth of a design, their ability and willingness to participate in the process is maximized. These most capable critics of the design are able to fully contribute to the planning and design of their project along with us. Welcoming clients into the design process has always been a hallmark of our service, but with the BIM technology, we have realized significant improvements in their understanding and thus participation. When looking at a BIM model, you are actually able to stand inside of your space, look out a window or walk down a hallway. You understand the design like you are in it.

Being fully engaged allows the years of client experience in their occupational environments to become a driving force in formulating accurate, highly crafted designs that promote maximum productivity and fulfillment.
